Lynn's Test Trouble is the nineteenth episode of the second season of The Hardy Boys And The Loud Girls.

Summary[]

Lynn gets an F on a test, something that has never happened before, so she gets help from the Bailey Boys to figure out what has happened.

Story[]

One afternoon in Burnett Stone's class at the local middle school, the students were taking an algebra test.

"Time", Burnett said, "okay everyone, please turn your tests in on my desk."

Diamond Tiara, one of his students, looked at her test and sighed.

"There's no way I'll pass this test", Diamond said.

Then, she noticed Lynn getting up with her test.

"Unless", Diamond said.

Diamond got up and walked over to Lynn, and bumped into her, resulting in her dropping her test.

"Hey", Lynn said.

"Oops", Diamond said.

Taking advantage of the situation, Diamond picked up Lynn's test, erased her name, and put her name on it before she noticed.

"The turn in spot is that way", Lynn said.

"My bad", Diamond said, "here's your test, by the way."

Diamond gave Lynn her test, which had the latter's name written on it.

"Thanks", Lynn said.

And so, they turned in their tests and sat back down.

"That was perfect", Diamond said, "A+ here I come."

Later that afternoon, Lynn was dropped off at home by the Bailey Boys, and went into the living room, where Frank, Joey, and Lori were sitting around.

"Hey, guys", Lynn said.

"Hey, Lynn", Joey said, "how was school?"

"Pretty good", Lynn said.

"How'd you do on that test", Frank asked.

"I don't know yet", Lynn said, "but I feel confident."

"That's the spirit", Joey said.

Then, Lori's cell phone rang, and she answered.

"Hello", Lori asked.

The caller turned out to be Burnett.

"Hello, Lori", Burnett said.

"Mr. Stone", Lori said, "what can I do for you?"

"I would like to request a conference with you guys and Lynn", Burnett said.

"Why", Lori asked, "is Lynn in trouble?"

"Oh no, no trouble at all", Burnett said, "it's about her grades."

"What about them", Lori asked.

"I'll explain at the conference", Burnett said, "how does noon tomorrow sound?"

"I think we can make it", Lori said.

"Great", Burnett said, "well, goodbye."

"Bye", Lori said.

Lori hung up, and turned to Lynn.

"Lynn", Lori said, "we're going to a conference with your teacher tomorrow."

"We are", Lynn asked, "why?"

"Something about your grades", Lori said, "I don't know what it is, but we'll find out tomorrow."

"Oh", Lynn said, "well, okay."

The next day, Frank, Joey, Lori, and Lynn arrived at the middle school, and went into Burnett's classroom.

"Hello, Mr. Stone", Frank said.

"Hello, and thank you for coming", Burnett said, "please, have a seat."

They all sat down, and Burnett began speaking.

"So", Joey said, "we heard that there's a problem with Lynn's grade."

"Well, it's not exactly a problem", Burnett said, "but it is very strange."

"What is it", Lori asked.

"Well", Burnett said, "it seems that Lynn got an F."

The four were surprised to hear this, especially Lynn.

"An F", Lynn asked, "how is that possible?"

"I don't know", Burnett said, "you usually do so well on these things."

Lynn then began crying.

"Don't cry, Lynn", Lori said, "it's just one bad grade."

"Yeah", Joey said, "maybe you can re-take the test."

"Good idea", Burnett said, "how does after school on Monday sound?"

"Fine, I guess", Lynn said.

"Okay", Burnett said, "see you then."

Frank, Joey, Lori, and Lynn got into the Pacer and got ready to go home.

"Cheer up, Lynn", Frank said, "it's not the end of the world."

"How about we pick up some lunch to eat at home", Joey said, "your pick."

"No thanks", Lynn said.

"Well, alright", Frank said.

A little while later, Jonny, Bailey, and Dice came over to the Hardy/Loud residence, and went to see Lynn.

"Hey, Lynn", Jonny said, "how's it going?"

"Fine, I guess", Lynn said.

"We heard about your test", Dice said, "we just want to say we're sorry for you."

"Thanks, guys", Lynn said.

"Say, maybe there's a way we can help", Bailey said.

"How", Lynn asked.

"We'll help you study extra hard for when you re-take the test", Bailey said.

"That's right", Jonny said, "with our help, you're guaranteed to pass it this time."

"Well, okay", Lynn said.

"Great", Jonny said, "let's get started."

Lynn, Jonny, Bailey, and Dice spent all weekend studying algebra, and on Monday afternoon, Lynn got ready to re-take her test.

"Here you go", Burnett said, "let me know when you've finished."

"Okay", Lynn said.

Lynn worked on her test, and eventually turned it in.

"Thank you, Lynn", Burnett said, "I'll have it graded pretty soon."

"Okay", Lynn said.

Then, Jonny, Bailey, and Dice entered the room.

"So", Jonny asked.

"He's grading it", Lynn said.

After a while, Burnett finished grading the test.

"Well, here you go", Burnett said.

Lynn looked at her test and saw that she had gotten an A+.

"Wow", Lynn said, "A+."

"Congratulations", Bailey said.

"Well, looks like I don't need this anymore", Lynn said.

Lynn pulled out her failed test, and Jonny noticed something.

"Wait a second", Jonny said, "let me see that test."

"Why", Lynn asked.

"I think I may have found the answer to why you failed", Jonny said.

"You do", Lynn asked.

"You bet", Jonny said.

Jonny compared Lynn's failed test to her re-test.

"Usually, you write your Ys so that they look like goal posts", Jonny said, "but here on your previous test, the Y in your name is normal."

"He's right", Bailey said.

"How did I not notice that", Lynn asked.

"I'm not sure", Jonny said, "but what I am sure about is that someone switched tests."

"But who", Dice asked.

Lynn then remembered that Diamond bumped into her when she was going to turn in her test.

"Diamond Tiara", Lynn said, "that sneaky girl."

"I should've known", Burnett said, "I found it strange that she aced the test, considering her grades."

Then, Diamond walked into the classroom.

"Pardon me", Diamond said, "I forgot my lip gloss in my desk."

Diamond got her lip gloss out, and noticed that Lynn, Jonny, Bailey, Dice, and Burnett were looking at her angrily.

"What's everyone looking at", Diamond asked.

"Diamond Tiara", Burnett said, "did you switch tests with Lynn?"

Diamond gasped at this.

"How dare you accuse me of something like that", Diamond asked, "you have no evidence whatsoever!"

"Then why is my signature different", Lynn asked.

"Anyone could've written that", Diamond said.

"Let me try", Jonny said, "Diamond, answer this math problem."

Jonny gave Diamond a math problem to solve, but couldn't figure it out, and realized that it was no use continuing her charade.

"Okay, okay, you broke me down", Diamond said, "I did switch Lynn's test!"

"I knew it", Lynn said, "that means I didn't fail the test the first time!"

"That is correct", Burnett said, "Lynn, boys, you're free to go, Diamond, I'd like to have a word with you."

"Yes sir", Diamond said.

Lynn, Jonny, Bailey, and Dice then exited the classroom and walked down the hall.

"Congratulations, Lynn", Dice said, "you did it."

"I couldn't have done it without some help from my boyfriend", Lynn said.

"Thanks, Lynn", Jonny said.

And with that, the four friends left the school.
