- Dez shares his birthday with American actor Alan Alda, best known for his role as Hawkeye Pierce in the popular television series M*A*S*H and his portrayal of Arnold Vinick in The West Wing.
- He is the only character in the movie to not share his birthday with a relative of one of the members of The Beatles.
- He and his friends Trent and Cody are three of the most popular boys at Bob Hoskins High School, both with students and teachers, and were best friends in childhood, often referring to themselves as "The Three Amigos of Bob Hoskins High".
